Golf course design is what first drew Andy to the field of landscape architecture. But upon beginning his studies at Kansas State University, his interest in designing golf courses was soon forgotten once he saw just what the profession is capable of. He fell in love with drawing and exploring the natural environment wherever he went. Creating spaces that are both user-friendly and respectful of their context has remained a major focus of his to this day.
Andy worked for firms in Dallas and Kansas City, and then joined HDR in 2013 after returning to his native Nebraska. He loves the company’s multidisciplinary tenets and capacity to innovate. He and his wife are raising two children, a son and a daughter, in Omaha. When not working, Andy enjoys reading, drawing, golfing, running, fishing and following his favorite sports teams. He is active in the ASLA's local chapter, and he participates in an area youth mentoring program. He recently earned an MBA from the University of Nebraska Omaha.
