Jean grew up in five cities across Minnesota, Colorado, and California, instilling in her an enduring love of the mountains and outdoors. She also would wear out the local town librarians from an early age, borrowing the limit weekly. Her love of reading and learning and her never ending curiosity have remained through adulthood. One question posed to her in 2000 remains one of the best compliments she’s ever received: “Are you a journalist?”
Jean studied Environmental Design at CA College of Arts of Crafts in Oakland and San Francisco, and her career focuses include interior design, medical planning and now, a full-time focus on the sustainable aspects of projects. Her unique sustainable expertise includes the interior product research she performs, evaluating products from the sustainable and health impact perspective, and identifying safer alternatives when they exist. Jean also volunteers considerable time in her work: after working on the pilot of the Health Product Declaration (HPD), she’s become a board member of the HPD Collaborative.
