Steve is a longtime Omahan and a man of many hats at HDR. His involvement in design goes back as far as he can remember. With his dad's position as Director of Public Relations at Union Pacific Railroad he remembers going to the headquarters building and getting to hang out with the graphic designers and creatives.
Steve received his bachelor’s degree from Peru State College and soon after began his work on his Masters in Biomedical Communications at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. During his college years, he traveled the country playing drums in a Drum and Bugle Corps where he saw a lot of the country and spent lots of time out standing in his own field. He began his HDR career as a graphic designer with HDR Engineering and shortly moved over to Architecture.
Now a father of three, he still gets excited about the possibility of design and the role it plays in our day-to-day work and lives. His leadership includes the product design collaboration work with companies such as David Edward, Nurture by Steelcase, Architex Textiles and several others. Steve also leads the Wayfinding group: ten professionals throughout the U.S. who work across business classes and project types.
